Solar Monitoring Not Working? $0 to $200 Fixes (2026)
Restoring solar monitoring after an installer closes costs $0 to $200 in NuWatt Energy's 2026 New England pricing and $750 to $1,000 in Forme Solar's 2026 Southern California pricing, because the fault is a connection or account problem, not production.
Reconnect the gateway to WiFi, then claim the account from the manufacturer: Enphase at (877) 797-4743, SolarEdge through its installer directory, SunStrong Connect with your old mySunPower login.

- SolarEdge'mySolarEdgeHow an owner gets access
Solar monitoring that stops working after an installer closes is almost always a connection or account-ownership problem, not a production problem: the gateway lost its cellular or WiFi link, or the installer's account held the monitoring site, while the panels keep generating.
Why solar monitoring stops working when the installer closes
Three things break. First, the gateway (Enphase Envoy or IQ Gateway, SolarEdge inverter modem, SunPower PVS) loses its internet connection, most often because the installer paid for a cellular modem that was switched off. Legacy SunPower cellular gateways stopped on April 15, 2025. Second, the monitoring site belongs to the installer's account, so nobody can push firmware, change settings or see alerts; SolarEdge owners report being unable to get mySolarEdge access for exactly this reason. Third, installer-run portals shut down entirely, as mySunPower did when it became SunStrong Connect. None of these stop the panels. A utility bill with low usage, or a glance at the inverter's status light, confirms production while the app says nothing.

Enphase app not working or Envoy offline
An Envoy or IQ Gateway reporting offline has lost its network link. Reconnect it to home WiFi through the Enphase App's installer-free setup, or plug in Ethernet. If the app shows no system at all, the installer's account owns the site; call Enphase at (877) 797-4743 and ask to be added as system owner. Enphase replaces failed microinverters under warranty but does not cover labor unless you buy Enphase Care at $399 a year.
SolarEdge app not working or site not transferring
SolarEdge site ownership sits with the installer account. A new installer from SolarEdge's directory, or SolarEdge support, can transfer the site to you. SolarEdge sells a $99 System Health Check that reports per-component status and warranty coverage, which is a reasonable first step before paying for a truck roll. A SolarEdge inverter with an error code on its screen (Error 18x, 3x14 and similar) needs a technician regardless of the app.
mySunPower app not working
mySunPower was replaced by SunStrong Connect. Log in with your mySunPower credentials. If the system shows no data, the PVS gateway was cellular-only and needs WiFi, Ethernet or powerline. Historical data and panel-level views are now in the $9.99 a month premium tier; basic health alerts and live monitoring stay free, and lease customers get premium free. The SunStrong guide covers the app in detail.
Generac PWRview and PWRcell batteries disabled
Generac remotely disabled a subset of first-generation PWRcell batteries in 2026, with no restore date announced as of September 3, 2026, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. A PWRcell owner whose battery shows disabled should call Generac at 888-436-3722 rather than a contractor; the lockout is on Generac's side. Former Pink Energy customers have the same number.
Tesla and SMA monitoring
Tesla Powerwall and Tesla solar owners use the Tesla app, and Tesla services its own hardware directly, so an installer closure changes little. SMA Sunny Portal accounts can be claimed by the owner; SMA's standard US residential inverter warranty is 10 years.
Questions people ask
Why does my solar app say my system is offline?
The gateway lost its internet link. Installers often used cellular modems that were switched off when they closed. Reconnect the Envoy, inverter or PVS to home WiFi or Ethernet. The panels keep producing meanwhile.
How do I get access to my Enphase system if my installer went out of business?
Call Enphase at (877) 797-4743, 24 hours a day, and ask to be added as system owner or to transfer ownership from the closed installer's account. The app itself is free.
Why is the mySunPower app asking me to pay?
mySunPower became SunStrong Connect. Since April 15, 2025 historical data and panel-level monitoring cost $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Basic monitoring is free and lease customers get premium at no cost.
Can I transfer my SolarEdge monitoring to myself?
Yes, through SolarEdge support or a new installer from SolarEdge's directory. The site is owned by the installer account by default. SolarEdge also sells a $99 remote System Health Check.
My Generac battery says disabled. Who do I call?
Generac at 888-436-3722. Generac remotely disabled some first-generation PWRcell batteries in 2026 and had announced no restore date as of September 3, 2026. A contractor cannot re-enable it.
Why is my Enphase Envoy not reporting?
The gateway lost its WiFi or Ethernet connection, or the installer still owns the monitoring site. Reconnect it in the Enphase App, or call Enphase at (877) 797-4743 to be added as system owner.
Why is Enphase Enlighten not working?
Enlighten is now the Enphase App. If it shows no data, the gateway is offline; if it shows no system, the installer's account still owns the site and Enphase can transfer it to you.
How do I find an Enphase installer near me?
Enphase publishes an installer locator on its website. For an orphaned system, choose one that confirms it services systems it did not install, or call the repair line.
What is solar production monitoring, and why did mine stop?
It is the app or portal that reports what your system produces, fed by a gateway on your home internet. It usually stops because the gateway went offline or the installer's account still owns the site.
