Solar Panel Repair San Antonio: $100 to $500 Visit + CPS
Solar panel repair in San Antonio costs about $238 to $1,487, Angi's 2026 national range; Angi publishes no San Antonio figure.
An owned system needs a TDLR-licensed electrical contractor, usually after a diagnostic visit of $100 to $300 (GreenLancer, 2026); a leased system is repaired by its servicer. San Antonio runs on CPS Energy, a city-owned utility that credits solar through monthly net billing and pays battery owners a $10 bill credit per demand-response event. The Texas Attorney General sued San Antonio-based CAM Solar in Bexar County in 2026 over loose panels and false claims, and Erus Energy's closure left local families with loans and no installer. The April 2016 hailstorm, with a record 3.5-inch stone, caused about $1.4 billion in damage.

Who services solar in San Antonio when the installer is gone
In San Antonio, the contractor for an owned system is a TDLR-licensed electrical contractor; the call lines on this page reach companies that take over systems whose installer closed. In May 2026 the Texas Attorney General sued CAM Solar, based in San Antonio, in Bexar County's 166th District Court, alleging deceptive savings, warranty and tax-credit claims and roof damage when panels came loose; one customer said "Nothing was screwed to the roof," and a storm blew panels off within a year. KENS 5 reported on a San Antonio family still owing about $22,000 on a GoodLeap loan after Erus Energy went out of business. Sunnova leases are serviced by SunStrong. Freedom Forever customers with an unfulfilled deposit or warranty claim have until October 16, 2026 to file a proof of claim in its Chapter 7 case; the claim deadline page has the steps. For owned systems, look for a TDLR-licensed electrical contractor registered with the City of San Antonio.
CPS Energy: what changes when you repair, reinstall or add a battery
CPS Energy uses net billing, not kWh banking: the bill subtracts exported kWh from delivered kWh, and if exports exceed use, a credit carries forward. Its published credit-rate footnote appears to contain a typo, so confirm the current rate with CPS. Battery owners with a completed CPS interconnection can enroll in My Battery Rewards for a $10 bill credit per event. In CPS's older rebate manual, a relocated system had to stay in CPS territory and a new owner had to submit a new application; ask CPS whether a removal and reinstall needs a new distributed generation application before the work.
Permits in San Antonio
The City of San Antonio Development Services Department issues building and electrical permits through its Accela portal. Rooftop solar needs building and electrical permits, and a battery needs an additional electrical permit, according to a third-party permit guide; confirm the scope with the contractor. CPS also had its own contractor standards for its rebate program: a TDLR electrical contractor license, a licensed master electrician, a NABCEP-certified installer and City of San Antonio electrical registration.
San Antonio hail and your solar system
The April 2016 San Antonio hailstorm dropped a record 3.5-inch hailstone and caused about $1.36 billion in damage by the Insurance Council of Texas's estimate, which it later put at $1.9 billion combined for the April storms. A March 2024 storm hit neighborhoods including the Deco District. Texas led the nation with 878 hail events in 2024. After a hailstorm, check the app for panels at zero and have the roof and array inspected together; storm damage is an insurance matter, so hire the contractor directly.
Where to complain or recover money in San Antonio
Texas began regulating residential solar sales on September 1, 2025 (SB 1036). Contracts signed since then must name the licensed electrical contractor doing the install and who gets the permits and utility approval, and give a 5-business-day right to cancel; retailers had to register with TDLR from September 1, 2026. TDLR takes complaints about retailers for contracts signed on or after September 1, 2025, and about electricians' solar work at any date. Older sales contracts go to the Texas Attorney General, which in April 2026 sent civil investigative demands to Freedom Forever, Sunrun, Lone Star Solar Services and CAM Solar.

Roofers, electricians and water damage repair in San Antonio
The same call lines serve San Antonio houses with or without solar. Roof: Texas does not appear to have a statewide roofing license (one third-party licensing guide says local rules apply), so check the roofer's local registration, insurance and reviews. Texas law bars a contractor from waiving or rebating your insurance deductible, and a roofer may not act as your public adjuster on a job it is doing. Nationally, Angi puts the average roof repair at $1,174, with most homeowners paying $395 to $1,968; the roof repair guide breaks it down by job. In Texas, mold remediators must hold a TDLR license, and one person may not both assess and remediate the same job; see mold remediation.
Electrical: In Texas, work that needs a new or upgraded circuit must be done by a TDLR-licensed electrical contractor with a designated master electrician. The electrical repair guide has hourly rates and common repair prices, and breaker keeps tripping covers the most common call.
Water damage: the EPA says wet materials dried within 24 to 48 hours usually do not grow mold, so call quickly, photograph everything and call your insurer as well. The water damage guide covers the first 48 hours.
