Solar Panel Repair Orlando: $100 to $500 Visit + OUC, Duke

Solar panel repair in Orlando costs about $238 to $1,487, Angi's 2026 national range; Angi publishes no Orlando figure.

Typical price range$238 to $1,487

An owned system needs a Florida-licensed solar (CVC) or electrical (EC) contractor, usually after a diagnostic visit of $100 to $300 (GreenLancer, 2026); a leased system is repaired by its servicer. OUC replaced net metering with TruNet Solar on July 1, 2025; customers who applied before then keep retail-rate credits through 2045. Duke Energy Florida field-inspected and charged a fee on 881 larger solar-plus-battery applications in 2025. Orange County's Sun Permit can be pulled by solar or electrical contractors. WKMG reported in August 2026 on Central Florida homeowners stranded by installer bankruptcies; one local installer charges $150 for orphan service calls against its standard $300.

Who services solar in Orlando when the installer is gone

In Orlando, the contractor for an owned system is a Florida-licensed solar (CVC) or electrical (EC) contractor; the call lines on this page reach companies that take over systems whose installer closed. WKMG News 6 reported in August 2026 on Central Florida homeowners left without an installer by Freedom Forever, Sunnova, Titan Solar Power, SunPower, Lumio, Vision Solar, Sunworks, iSun and ADT Solar. The article advised pulling the permit records from the building department and confirming net metering and permission-to-operate paperwork with the utility. The Florida Attorney General's suit against Vision Solar was filed in Orange County, citing at least 180 complaints. Freedom Forever customers with an unfulfilled deposit or warranty claim have until October 16, 2026 to file a proof of claim in its Chapter 7 case; the claim deadline page has the steps.

OUC and Duke Energy Florida: what changes when you repair, reinstall or add a battery

OUC (City of Orlando and parts of Orange County) replaced net metering with TruNet Solar on July 1, 2025. Customers whose interconnection application was submitted before then keep retail-rate export credits through June 30, 2045; newer customers get a lower community solar rate through 2030, then the levelized fuel rate. Because the date of your application sets your rate, ask OUC in writing whether a removal and reinstall or a battery changes anything before the work.

Duke Energy Florida serves much of Orange County outside OUC. It reviewed and field-inspected 881 larger (Tier 2 and 3, over 10 kW) solar-plus-battery applications in 2025, including batteries added to existing systems, and charged an application fee for each; ask Duke what applies to your system size.

Permits in Orlando and Orange County

Unincorporated Orange County issues residential rooftop "Sun Permits" through its Fast Track online system. Electrical contractors (EC, ER) or solar contractors (CVC) can pull them, though if a solar contractor pulls it, an electrical contractor must make the utility connection. Plans need engineer-sealed attachment details with wind speed, exposure and risk category, compliance with Florida Building Code Section 324, and electrical plans that note any battery backup. Inside the City of Orlando, the Permitting Services Division issues the permits. Under the 2025 state law, a permit filed with a private plan reviewer gets a decision within 5 business days or is deemed approved.

Orlando storms and your solar system

Hurricane Ian in September 2022 dropped more than a foot of rain on Orlando International Airport in 24 hours and made it the wettest September on record. Hurricane Milton gusted to 86 mph there in October 2024, when about 24% of OUC accounts were without power. After Ian-scale rain, look at the attic side of every roof penetration and the garage floor around the inverter before the next storm. Storm damage is an insurance matter; under Florida law, hire the contractor directly.

Where to complain or recover money in Orlando

Orange County's Consumer Protection Office takes complaints and recovered more than $208,000 for residents in 2025, alongside the state routes below. Florida's 2025 law (HB 683) lets a contractor use a private provider for plan review; for a solar permit on a single-family or two-family home filed that way, the building official has 5 business days to respond or the permit is deemed approved. Permits the county or city reviews itself follow longer deadlines. A licensed solar contractor (CVC) or electrical contractor (EC) does the work; check the license at myfloridalicense.com. Florida Statute 489.147 bars contractors at all times from offering anything of value for a roof inspection or insurance claim, and from paying or taking referral fees on any work paid by property insurance. A roof contract signed within 180 days of a declared emergency, for property in the declared area, can be canceled within 10 days. For that reason the roof and solar call lines on this site are not for insurance claims. Complaints about a licensed contractor go to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (myfloridalicense.com); fraud and sales complaints go to the Florida Attorney General (myfloridalegal.com).

Roofers, electricians and water damage repair in Orlando

The same call lines serve Orlando houses with or without solar. Roof: A Florida roofer needs a Certified Roofing Contractor license (CCC, valid statewide) or a Registered Roofing Contractor license (RC, valid only where it was issued); a general or residential contractor must subcontract the roof unless it also holds a roofing license. Look it up at myfloridalicense.com. Nationally, Angi puts the average roof repair at $1,174, with most homeowners paying $395 to $1,968; the roof repair guide breaks it down by job. Older homes in Orlando often need a four-point inspection to get Citizens coverage (required for homes more than 20 years old), and a wind mitigation report, $75 to $150 per Kin Insurance, can stay valid for up to five years; see roof inspection.

Electrical: Electrical work in Florida needs a certified (EC, statewide) or registered (ER, local) electrical contractor. The electrical repair guide has hourly rates and common repair prices, and breaker keeps tripping covers the most common call.

Water damage: the EPA says wet materials dried within 24 to 48 hours usually do not grow mold, so call quickly, photograph everything and call your insurer as well. Florida bans assignment of benefits on policies issued on or after January 1, 2023, so do not sign over a claim to the drying company. The water damage guide covers the first 48 hours.
